| World Placer Journal - 2003 - Volume 3. The South Dredge of Shijiir Alt in the Zaamar Goldfield of Mongolia. Gerrit Bazuin, Robin Grayson & Baatar Tumenbayar | THE SOUTH DREDGE IN ACTION IN AUGUST 2002... The dredge is mining towards the camera, backfilling the pond behind it with oversize and tailings, and is about to break through into a new pond. The new pond has been dry excavated by the dragline and then pumped full of water. To the right is a fresh excavation, dug by a second dragline, that will later be flooded to become the next pond for the dredge to enter. (photographer: Robin Grayson)
| ONE MONTH LATER, GETTING READY TO TURN THE CORNER... The dredge has now advanced by one dredge pond, and a dragline (right) is putting the final touches to the special turning pond. In the distance, a second dragline (centre) is completing several more dredge ponds ready for the 'return run' of the dredge. (photographer: Robin Grayson)
